Government drug adviser fired.

Just on the news, Professor David Nutt, the adviser of was fired for suggesting that cannabis are less harmful than alcohol.

Now, hold on a second. This Scientist, someone who is an expert in his field who has studied the data around this subject and based on the evidence he has seen has suggested that Cannabis is less harmful than alcohol. and has been fired by someone who (I assume) does not have scientific experience because s/he does not like what Science has said.

If, in a court of law during a murder case, a lawyer finds CCTV footage of the accused 500 miles away at the time of the murder and then said lawyer gets banned from the court by judge and the video tape evidence thrown out, they’d be uproar!

How about, basing our drug laws on facts based on Science, instead of movie ‘Reefer madness’?

It seems the Government fired this man to send a message that they are ‘tough on drugs’ (unless it’s Tobacco or Alcohol in which case have as much as you want). The message it gives me is ‘We ignore scientific fact and base out policies on fear’.

International langauge

If you go into an airport, you see signs written in two langauges.

The first is the local langauge, the other is a langauge of symbols representing what is being said in the local langauge.

Many attempts have been made to design an international langauge, but what if someone could design a written langauge based on symbols so anyone can understand.

Why not make airport symbols writeable to express ideas outside spoken langauge with ease?
